We’ve been waiting 13 years to hear Avalanches’ followup to 2000’s Since I Left You. There’s been a lot of hearsay, alleged hoards of new material recorded and ready to go, artists popping up confirming that they’ve been involved in the project, fake press releases from their record company claiming that they’d refused to release a finished version of the album, rumors of them going in a new hip hop heavy direction.
Well finally we have a confirmed new track, posted on The Avalanches’ Twitter earlier tonight. It’s a remix of Australian band Hunters and Collectors’ 1983 track Talking to a Stranger, renamed Stalking to a Stranger. Never heard of Hunters and Collectors, but I am very much liking the sound of this after a couple of listens. Hopefully this is a sign that a new album isn’t too far away.
